DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A CULTURAL BOARD GAME INNOVATION BASED ON THAI DESSERT CULTURAL WITH COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN THONBURI DISTRICT
Abstract
The objectives of this research were to: 1) design and develop a board game innovation, 2) evaluate the prototype's quality, and 3) assess the user acceptance of the innovation based on Thai dessert cultural capital with community participation in the Thonburi District. The sample group for evaluating the prototype quality consisted of 5 board game experts and 15 community members. For the assessment of user acceptance, the sample group comprised 5 board game experts and 30 tourists. The research instruments included in-depth interviews, an innovation quality assessment form, and an acceptance evaluation form. Data were analyzed using Mean and Standard Deviation.
The research findings revealed that the developed board game innovation, titled "The Battle of Thonburi Dessert Masters," utilizes experiential learning mechanics consisting of three main components: ingredient resource management, social interaction to facilitate negotiation, and event cards to ensure gameplay balance and challenge. This game effectively reflects the identity of local Thai desserts within the Thonburi area. Prototype evaluation results from both experts and the community showed that the overall quality of the innovation was at a high level. Particularly, the areas of cultural preservation within the content and the utility for further expansion received the highest scores. Furthermore, the evaluation of user acceptance by experts and tourists indicated a high level of acceptance. Users perceived the board game as a creative and entertaining tool, serving as an effective medium for transmitting intangible cultural heritage to younger generations.
