Abstract

This research aims to analyze the behavioral and motivational factors influencing microtransactions or in-game purchases on online gaming platforms among university students, as well as to evaluate the performance of the CatBoost model. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire comprising five key sections: gaming behavior characteristics, behavioral and motivational rating scales, economic decision-making, additional quantitative data, and satisfaction with in-game top-ups. The experimental results, evaluated through cross-validation and a confusion matrix, demonstrated that the CatBoost model achieved 93.13% accuracy, 93.75% sensitivity, 92.50% specificity, and an F1-score of 93.17%. These findings indicate that integrating behavioral and motivational factors with the CatBoost model provides a viable alternative for classifying microtransactions on online gaming platforms.
