Synthesis of Gold Nanoparticles by Reduction under UV Irradiation
Keywords:
gold nanoparticles, sodium citrate, UV irradiationAbstract
This research presents a synthesis of gold nanoparticles by using sodium citrate (Na3C6H5O7) as a reducing agent for the reduction of chloroauric acid (HAuCl4) under UV irradiation. The results showed that the content of sodium citrate in the synthesis had an effect on the formation and size of gold nanoparticles. The optimal concentration of sodium citrate for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles under UV irradiation at 10 W in this work was 38.8 mM with volumes of 0.3 and 0.6 mL. However, such conditions were not suitable for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles under natural light.
