Study of Income Gap between Academic Government Officer and Employee in Higher Education Institutions in Bangkok

Abstract

The income and welfare allocation is very important to improve life quality for personnel and motivate professional personnel to work. Therefore, the main objectives of this research are to study income gap between academic government officer and employee in higher education institute and to investigate the welfare requirement and satisfaction. This study surveyed the data in Bangkok due to a huge number of students and personnel and the several numbers of well-known institutions. This research collected data by using questionnaire with populations of 380 samples including 178 government officers and 203 academic employees.  The results showed that the samples of government officer were older and had more experience than that of employee and the majority of samples graduated in the Master’s degree. In addition, the majority of government officers received the income and net income more than academic employee according to the higher requirement of welfare that the employees requested more than government officer. Government should pay attention to human resource and support the necessary welfare for living of both the academic government officer and employee in the higher education institution.
