THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MODEL FOR PROMOTING LOCAL WISDOM BY APPLYING THE FOUR NOBLE TRUTHS THROUGH THE CASE STUDY OF BULRUSH PRODUCTS FROM PRU KHUAN KRENG
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed to develop a model for promoting local wisdom by applying the Four Noble Truths and to study the model’s effectiveness and the satisfaction of community members in the case study of Bulrush products from Pru Khuan Kreng. This quasi-experimental research utilized a purposive sample of 25 members of the Bulrush product producers’ group in Ban Pru Khuan Kreng, Cha-uat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The research instruments included the developed local wisdom promotion model, activity plans, a test measuring the understanding and application of the Four Noble Truths, and a satisfaction questionnaire. Statistical methods used were mean, standard deviation, percentage, t-test, and efficiency analysis (E1/E2). The research findings were as follows: 1) The developed model, which received the highest ratings from experts for its validity, suitability, feasibility, and usefulness, consisted of five steps: Study Dukkha, Identify Samudaya, Determine Nirodha, Construct Magga, and Evaluate Results. 2) The model's effectiveness was 88.25/86.70, which significantly exceeded the set criterion of 80/80. This indicates high effectiveness in both understanding during the process (E1) and application after the process (E2). 3) A comparison of the community members' understanding and application of the Four Noble Truths before and after the intervention revealed that post-intervention scores were significantly higher than pre-intervention scores at the .05 level. 4) The overall satisfaction of the community members with the model was at the highest level ( = 4.80, S.D. = 0.15). The research suggests that applying the Four Noble Truths as a conceptual framework for local wisdom development is a successful method for enhancing community members’ analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, which can serve as a sustainable guideline for promoting and developing other community products.
