Ethics in Publication of Research Results in Journals (Publication Ethics)

Author Ethical Responsibilities

Articles submitted for consideration for publication in the journal must be original and not duplicated in other journals. Articles submitted for consideration for publication must not contain any part that is a copy of academic work, either their own or others', and must have correct and complete references. Authors must verify the accuracy of the reference list, both in terms of format and content. Authors must write articles in the format and font size specified by the journal template. All authors listed in the article must have been involved in the actual article. Authors must disclose sources of funding that supported the research and/or any conflicts of interest in the article and notify the editor. Authors must not report inaccurate information, including creating false information, forgery, distortion, fabrication, or selectively displaying information to support a conclusion. Authors must agree to transfer copyright to the journal before publication and must not publish or distribute the work in other sources after it has been published in Thammasat Journal. For research studies and experiments involving humans or animals, which may affect the dignity, rights, safety, and health of individuals, an ethics certificate from the Human Research Ethics Committee or Animal Experiments Committee must be attached. Publication approval depends on the final decision of the journal editorial board.

Editor Roles and Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for reviewing and examining articles submitted for publication in their journals, considering the article content's alignment with the journal's goals and scope, and ensuring article quality throughout the evaluation and publication process. Editors are responsible for checking articles for redundancy or plagiarism using a plagiarism detection program. If such issues are found during the evaluation process, the editor must halt the process and immediately contact the main author for clarification to support the decision to accept or reject the article. Editors must not disclose information about authors and article reviewers to unauthorized individuals during the evaluation period or until the article is published. Editors must consider research results with proper research methods for publication. Academic reasoning must be applied in every article review without bias towards the article or author based on race, gender, religion, culture, politics, or affiliation. Editors must not use articles or journals for commercial purposes or as their own academic work. Editors must not edit or change article content or the evaluation results of qualified individuals, including blocking or interfering with communication between qualified individuals and authors. Editors must not publish articles that have been published in other journals.

Reviewer Roles and Responsibilities

Reviewers must not disclose information about the article under review to unauthorized individuals during the evaluation period or until the article is published. If a reviewer has a conflict of interest with the author, they must inform the journal editor and decline to evaluate the article. Reviewers should only evaluate articles within their areas of expertise. If any part of the article is similar to or duplicates other works, the reviewer must inform the editor. The evaluation period must adhere to the specified timeframe, and reviewers must not disclose information about the article to unauthorized individuals. Article reviewers should conduct honest evaluations without bias or hidden intentions.
