Goldfish Mate: Smart Goldfish Tank with Disease Detection

Goldfish are one of the top-exported economic fish due to their ease of care, minimal space requirements, and ability to bring joy to owners. However, despite being low-maintenance, goldfish are susceptible to common health issues such as Ichthyophthiriasis, Hemorrhagic Septicemia, and Dropsy, which novice owners often lack the knowledge to detect and manage effectively. To address these challenges, this study presents Goldfish Mate: An Intelligent Goldfish Tank with Disease Detection System, capable of accurately detecting diseases in goldfish. The system uses images captured by a webcam installed in the tank, which are then analyzed by the YOLOv7 model which has an accuracy of 90.4% in disease detection. Once the detected diseases are identified, initial treatment recommendations are provided via notifications through a LINE chatbot named Goldfish Mate. Additionally, owners can monitor water quality to ensure a suitable environment for goldfish. Goldfish Mate effectively detects diseases and quality issues and sends timely alerts via the LINE chatbot, enabling owners to identify and treat health issues promptly and efficiently.
