Application of LDPE plastic waste in road paving blocks
Abstract
In the present day, despite measures to reduce the distribution of plastic bags in stores, the disposal of single-use plastic bags continues to increase. Utilizing discarded single-use LDPE plastic bags, which have no remaining commercial value and often pose a disposal burden, in construction materials offers an efficient means of recycling. This research focuses on using such plastic bag waste to produce road pavement blocks by mixing the plastic waste with coarse sand under heat. Test results demonstrate that the resulting pavement blocks possess compression strength properties in accordance with the industrial product standard for concrete pavement blocks (TISI 827-2565), making them a viable and efficient alternative to conventional pavement blocks.
