Disaster Debris Management after Floods: Lessons from Japan for Policy Development in Thailand

Abstract

This research examines post-flood disaster waste management by analyzing lessons learned from Japan to develop policy recommendations for Thailand. As Thailand frequently experiences flooding, it generates massive amounts of waste that exceed the capacity of the conventional waste management system. The study compares case studies from Thailand and Japan and proposes waste management approaches for each phase of a disaster. It also provides policy recommendations to enhance preparedness and ensure sustainable post-disaster waste management in Thailand.
