ABOUT THE JOURNAL

Journal Background

Thai Environment Journal is a scholarly publication managed by the Institute of Environmental Research for Sustainability (formerly the Environmental Research Institute), Chulalongkorn University. Its mission is to disseminate knowledge and research in both the built and natural environments, encompassing diverse environmental issues, scientific and technological advancements, spatial planning and management, as well as environmental policy, strategy, and related disciplines. All submissions are subject to a rigorous quality screening process aligned with international standards.

Launched initially as Environmental Journal, its first print issue was published in February 1996 as a quarterly journal (four issues annually). The journal transitioned to an online format in 2019, accessible at http://www.ej.eric.chula.ac.th, and was indexed in the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI) Tier 3, with the following identifiers:

  • ISSN (Print):0859-3868
  • ISSN (Online):2586-9248

With a commitment to continual improvement and its goal to elevate its ranking to TCI Tier 2, the journal underwent several strategic changes in 2023, including:

  • Switching from quarterly tobiannual publication (June and December issues)
  • Migrating its manuscript submission platform from email (eric@chula.ac.th) to theThai Journals Online (ThaiJO) system, which facilitates complete E-Journal management
  • Strengthening its peer review mechanism to adouble-blind review process involving at least two qualified experts in relevant fields

In 2024, the journal adopted a new name—Thai Environment Journal—to better reflect its identity and expanded scope. The current ISSN (Online) is 3057-0166.

The journal maintains an Open-Access policy, providing free publication and unrestricted access to its content. This approach supports researchers, scholars, and students by enabling the submission and dissemination of environmentally significant research and scholarship—fostering national and global academic advancement as well as practical solutions to environmental and resource management challenges.
