About the Journal

Thai Environmental is a scholarly journal operated by the Sustainable Environment Research Institute (formerly known as the Environmental Research Institute), Chulalongkorn University. The journal aims to serve as an academic platform for disseminating knowledge and research on the built and natural environments, as well as natural resources. It encompasses a broad spectrum of environmental issues, including scientific and technological aspects, spatial planning and management, as well as environmental policy, strategy, and related disciplines. All submitted manuscripts undergo a rigorous peer-review process in accordance with international standards.

Thai Environmental, formerly known as the Environmental Journal, was first launched as a print publication in February 1996. In 2019, the journal transitioned to an online format. Under its previous title, the journal was assigned ISSN (Print): 0859-3868 and ISSN (Online): 2586-9248, and was indexed in the Thai-Journal Citation Index (TCI), Tier 3.

With a continuing commitment to quality enhancement and the goal of advancing to a higher tier within TCI, the journal undertook a series of structural revisions in 2023. These included a change in publication frequency to a biannual schedule—Issue 1 in June and Issue 2 in December—and the implementation of a fully digital editorial process. Manuscript submission shifted to the Thai Journals Online (ThaiJO) platform, a centralized system for managing and publishing academic journals in electronic format. The editorial workflow was further refined through the adoption of a double-blind peer review process, engaging at least two experts in relevant fields for each submission.

In 2024, the journal was officially renamed Thai Environmental to more accurately reflect its editorial scope and identity. The revised publication holds ISSN: 3057-0166 (Online).

All articles published in Thai Environmental are freely available under an Open Access model, with no article processing charges. This policy ensures that researchers, students, and the broader public have the opportunity to contribute and access research that is vital to advancing environmental scholarship both within Thailand and internationally. It also promotes the application of academic knowledge toward addressing environmental and natural resource challenges faced by society.
