Sustainable Dentistry: A Comparative Study of the NHS Dental System in the UK and Public and Private Sectors in Thailand within the Context of the Healthcare System

Abstract

Abstract: This article studies the application of sustainability principles in comparative studies of the national healthcare system of the United Kingdom (NHS UK), NHS primary dental services (UK), and the public health system of Thailand, including both public and private oral healthcare in Thailand. The focus is on sustainable dentistry. Thematic Analysis and Comparative Analysis methods were used to analyze secondary data collected from November 2024 to March 2025. Discussion and Conclusion: For public dental services in Thailand, sustainability practices mostly focus on oral health problems, energy saving, and waste disposal management. In the private sector, awareness and implementation of sustainability in dentistry are still at an early stage because of limited understanding and a lack of budget for action.
