Abstract

The purposes of this research were to explore the relationship and develop the health promotion and quality of life model development of older adults in Nakhon Sawan provience. The mixed methodology was used in this research. There were 3 steps:
the first step was to explore the correlation of factors related to health promotion and quality of life. The samples were 450 older
adults by multistage random sampling selected from community clubs in every districts. Variables were Demographic data,
Perceived Health status, Perceived benefit, Perceived barriers, Health Promotion Behavior and Quality of life (QOL).Data were
collected by using questionnaire and were analyzed for frequency; percentage, Mean, SD. and Pearson correlation.

The findings from the first step shown that older adults were almost female (56.9%) average aged 68.30, 63.6% were marriage, highest education level in primary school. Older adults did not do their usual works (36.7%), no monthly income (20.2%) or <5,000 bath (47.1%), source from their own (58.0%) or their children (37.8%) that sufficient to earn themselves (60.2%). Health problem were musculoskeletal system (40.1%) and hypertension (22.74%), and cure in hospital (46.0%) and primary care unit (PCU.) (39.8%). Perceived health status were at moderate level (X=3.41), the other factors were at high level. The correlation between health promotion factors and quality of life of older adults were significant at .01 level except perceived barrier were not related to self efficacy, commitment, health promotion behavior and quality of life.


In second step, the findings from focus group discussion and SWOT analysis shown that older adults need supports in health promotion and quality of life development such as health examination support, information and materials, appropriated area, and budgets.
