Abstract

The Study project of factors influencing tourism industry in Bangkok was aimed at 1) To study the perception of Thai tourists and
foreign tourists toward vital factors namely accommodation, food, services, attraction and climate as well as surroundings influencing
tourism industry in Bangkok 2) To study satisfaction of Thai tourists and foreign tourists during their visit Bangkok. Sampling data was
employed through specific sampling and accidental sampling. 700 Thai tourists and 700 foreign tourists were studied via 2 types of
questionnaires; Perception survey and Satisfaction survey (350 for Thai version and 350 for English version) during March- June of
2010 at various outstanding tourist spots in Bangkok namely Rattanakosin island, The Emerald Buddha Temple, Temple of Dawn,
Taling Chan floating market, Weekend market, MBK center, Silom and Kaosan road. The following five vial factors were considered
namely Accommodation, Food, Services, Tourist attraction, and Climate.


The findings revealed that 1. Thai tourists’ perception was found and ranked from the first to the last as follows; Tourist attraction, Services, Accommodation and Climate respectively whereas foreign tourists’ perception were found as follows; Tourist attraction, Food, Services, Accommodation and Climate respectively. 2. Thai tourists’ satisfaction was observed from the highest to the least rank orders namely Tourist attraction, Food, Accommodation, Services and Climate respectively while foreign tourists’ satisfaction was observed as follows; Tourist attraction, Services, Food, Accommodation and Climate respectively. It could be concluded that the five vital factors influenced both Thai and foreign tourists; however, foreign tourists perceived and were satisfied with all factors whereas Thai tourists perceived and were satisfied with all factors at moderate level.
