Image Archiving and Communication System for Endoscope

Abstract

The objective of this research had studied on the design and implementation of Image Archiving and Communication System for
Endoscope based on principle of image acquisition and computer in medicine. The developed Image Archiving and Communication
System for Endoscope by Borland C++ Builder version 5, MyDAC, Dreamweaver CS3 and CS5, Appserv-Win32 version 2.5.0 can
be operated in 2 main parts, i.e. 1) the image archiving for connecting on image signal from head camera of endoscope via capture
card and can archive either a single frame in .bmp file format and continuous frame in .avi file format, patient data, physician data
and diagnosis data into database system. 2) the web-based of medical image information which is system for search, insert, edit and
delete data in database system on server through this web-based. The results of functional testing shown that the system can connect
to image signal and real time display from endoscope by capture card. And, this system can archive both single frame and continuous
frame without distortion of image. Additional, user can access and manage data on the web-based through computer network. The
system has protected by high level security with username and password authentication and data access level authorization. In a part
of opinion from user/physician by using questionnaire that question topics was separated into 3 topics: 1) image archiving topic has
percents of graphic user interface satisfaction and functional satisfaction at 73 and 75 respectively, 2) the design of database topic
has percents of design and detail database satisfaction at 75 and 3) web-based of medical image information topic has percents of
graphic user interface satisfaction and functional satisfaction 73 and 75 respectively.
